Definition of Belly
The term ‘belly’ refers to a specific part of a boat or other object. This is the central area where a rope or other securing line can be wrapped in order to hang or secure the object.
For example: The sailboat was secured to the dock using a series of ropes. One of these ropes, known as the ‘belly line,’ was wrapped around the center of the boat’s hull in order to secure the boat to the dock.
