Nautical Term: BI

Definition of BI

Both Inclusive’ (BI), refers to a navigational situation where both channels or fairways leading to an entrance or harbor are open for use by mariners. For instance, in the entry of the Thames River in London, mariners have the option to use either the North or South Reach channels, both of which lead to the Thames River and eventually to London. Thus, the term ‘Both Inclusive’ (BI) is used to describe such navigational scenarios where both options are available for use.
