Nautical Term: Bow rudderb
Definition of Bow rudderb
A rudder, which is an essential steering device for a ship, is typically situated at the bottom of the forward stem. This specific rudder installation is referred to as a ‘bow rudder.’ Normally, a bow rudder is maneuvered from the forepeak area, located at the very front of the ship, just above the bow. In practical application, the crew may use a system of ropes and pulleys, along with directional orders, to effectively manipulate the bow rudder and alter the ship’s course.
