:A ship is defined as capsize when it experiences a loss of transverse stability, resulting in a rollover of the vessel and its subsequent sinking.
For instance, during a heavy storm at sea, a cargo ship may encounter large waves that exceed its stability limits. As a result, the ship may capsize, rolling over and sinking, potentially leading to significant loss of cargo, damage to the marine environment, and risk to human life.
