Nautical Term: Ceilingb
Definition of Ceilingb
Ceiling refers to the inside skin of a vessel. This term is specifically used between decks or in the case of small vessels, from the deck beams to the bilge.
For instance, in the restoration of an old wooden sailing vessel, the ceiling or inside skin of the vessel needed to be thoroughly examined for signs of decay or water damage. Once any issues were identified, appropriate repairs could be carried out to ensure the continued structural integrity of the vessel.
