Definition of DE

Design and Equipment, often abbreviated as DE, refers to the specifications and features of a vessel’s design and onboard equipment. For instance, a DE assessment may include evaluating a ship’s hull design for efficiency and durability, examining the ship’s electrical systems, and assessing the ship’s safety equipment, such as lifeboats and life rafts.
