Definition of EHQ

The term ‘Emergency Head Quarters’ (EHQ) refers to a designated command center aboard a ship or other marine vessel. The EHQ is established to provide efficient and effective communication and coordination between various departments and personnel on board the vessel during emergency situations. For example, if a fire breaks out in the engine room of a cargo ship, the crew would immediately establish an EHQ to coordinate firefighting efforts, evacuate personnel, and communicate with outside authorities and organizations for additional support and resources.
