Nautical Term: Fair
Definition of Fair
To fair a line refers to the process of making curves, sheer lines, deck lines, and other irregular lines even and smooth in the context of drawing and mold loft work.
For instance, while creating a ship’s hull design, the ship designer may have to fair several lines to create a smooth and even curve. The fairing process ensures that the final design of the ship’s hull is as accurate and streamlined as possible.
