Nautical Term: GSP

Definition of GSP

A Good Safe Port (GSP) is a seaport that offers optimal safety conditions and excellent facilities for receiving and accommodating ships. For instance, during a stormy season, a captain might prefer to anchor his vessel in a well-protected GSP such as Gibraltar or Marseille, rather than in an exposed or ill-equipped port that may pose a greater risk to the ship and its crew.
