Lifting gear refers to the specialized equipment used for lifting, pulling, or securing heavy loads during maritime operations. This equipment can include cranes, derricks, winches, wire ropes, shackles, and slings, among others.

For instance, during the loading process of a cargo ship, a crane, which is a type of lifting gear, is used to lift heavy containers from the shore and place them onto the ship.
