Definition of MB
A Merchant Broker, also known as a Shipping Broker or a Freight Forwarder, acts as an intermediary between merchants, shippers, and carriers in the maritime industry.
For instance, if a merchant has a large shipment of goods that needs to be transported from one country to another, they would hire a Merchant Broker to handle the logistics of the shipment. The Merchant Broker would then work with various shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure that the shipment is transported efficiently and cost-effectively from the origin to the destination, while also complying with all relevant maritime laws and regulations.
