Nautical Term: Non-watertight door

Definition of Non-watertight door

A non-watertight door is a type of door that is not designed to prevent water from passing through, even under pressure. For instance, a yacht may have a non-watertight door leading to the engine room. This door allows easy access to the engine room, but it does not provide a watertight seal. Therefore, when entering or exiting the engine room through the non-watertight door, it is important to be aware of the potential for water to enter the engine room, and to take appropriate precautions to minimize the risk of water damage.
