Nautical Term: Offsets

Definition of Offsets

Offsets refer to the precise dimensional coordinates of a hull form. These coordinates are referenced to the moulded baseline, centreline, and transom or AP. Offsets are typically presented in a tabular format for easy reference and analysis.

For instance, in a design discussion, an engineer might refer to the offsets of a particular hull form to ensure that the new design meets the desired stability and efficiency standards.
