Definition of Part

_x0084_Designating a point where a line or rope is intended to be severed or broken. For instance, in setting a sail, the crew may attach the halyard to the cleat at the part of the mast where the sail is to be hoisted. Once the sail is raised, the halyard is secured and the part where the halyard was attached is now indicated by a telltale, which shows the wind’s direction and enables the sailor to trim the sail for optimal performance._x0084_
