Definition of PPE

Personal Protective Equipment, commonly abbreviated as PPE, refers to the garments, helmets, gloves, footwear, and other protective items designed to prevent injury or harm to the wearer during nautical activities. For instance, a sailor might wear waterproof clothing, a life jacket, and rubber-soled boots to protect against hypothermia, drowning, and injury from slipping on wet surfaces.
