Nautical Term: PSR

Definition of PSR

The ‘Perils at Sea Revision’ (PSR), is an essential nautical term used to denote the most recent revisions of navigational charts and publications. These revisions may include corrections of errors, alterations of navigational aids, or the addition of new hazards. For example, during a voyage, the master of a ship receives the latest PSR publication. Upon reviewing the new revisions, the master discovers that a new shoal has formed near their intended route. Based on this new information, the master may decide to alter their voyage plan to avoid the newly discovered hazard.
