A rail-mounted gantry crane (RMG) is a specialized crane used for container handling in a container yard. These cranes are mounted on rails and can move along the rail track to reach different locations in the yard. The RMG crane is used for container acceptance, delivery, and stacking operations in a container yard. For instance, when a container ship arrives at the port, the RMG crane is used to unload the containers from the ship and place them on the rail tracks for transportation to the storage areas in the yard.
