Definition of Ribband
A ribband is a long, narrow strip of timber that follows the curvature of a vessel and is bolted to its ribs. This longitudinal strip of wood holds the ribs in position and gives stability to the skeleton while building a ship.
For example, during the construction of a ship, the shipbuilder installs the ribbands, which are long, narrow strips of wood, onto the ribs of the ship. These ribbands hold the ribs in position and give stability to the skeleton of the ship while it is being built.
