Definition of ROB
Remaining On Board, commonly referred to as ROB, refers to the practice of staying on a boat or ship during a particular condition or situation. This term is often used when discussing safety procedures during heavy weather or when boarding or leaving a vessel in a confined space or in close proximity to other vessels.
For instance, during a sailing competition, the race committee may issue a warning for impending bad weather. In such a situation, the race organizers may advise all competitors to Remain On Board (ROB) until the danger has passed. The competitors would then be allowed to proceed with the race once it is deemed safe to do so.
