Definition of Transom beam
A transom beam is a substantial deck beam situated at the aft end of a watercraft. The beam directly above the stern post and is connected at each end to the transom frame. The cant beams that support the deck plating in the stern overhang radiate from the transom beam.
For instance, imagine a small sailboat. The transom beam in this vessel would be the sturdy beam located at the back end of the boat, directly above the stern post. This beam would be connected at each end to the transom frame, providing support and stability to the boat’s stern area.
