Definition of Wing
The term wing refers to the overhanging part of a deck on a ferry boat or fore and aft of paddle boxes in a side wheeler. It is also used to denote outboard parts of the ship, such as the wings of the hold.
For instance, in a passenger ferry, the wing of the deck would refer to the extended part of the deck, where passengers can wait or move around during boarding or disembarkation.
