Definition of Light load line
A light load line refers to the water line position on a ship when it is carrying a minimal load.
For instance, imagine a cargo ship docked at a port. The captain decides to unload all the cargo and sail the ship back to the next port with an empty hold. In this scenario, the water line on the ship would be at its light load line position.
