Definition of LYCN

Laycan, also known as Layday Canceling Date, is a term used in nautical scheduling. It refers to the date on which a previously scheduled layday (a day allowed for a vessel to wait for favorable conditions before continuing its journey) is cancelled. For instance, a ship scheduled to arrive at a port on the 15th of a month and granted a layday of the 16th, may have the layday cancelled if the ship arrives at the port before the 16th.
