Nautical Term: Prow
Definition of Prow
The prow of a ship refers to the forward-most part of the vessel’s bow. More specifically, it is the portion of the bow that lies between the load water line and the very top of the bow.
For example, during the construction of a historic tall ship, the carpenters meticulously shaped and sanded the prow to ensure it was an authentic replica of the original ship’s prow.
