[Alternative profile.]
(2) In the context of a ship’s hull, a Section refers to a transverse vertical plane cutting through the hull perpendicular to the centreline.
For example: During the annual inspection of the MV Starfish, the surveyor identified a crack in one of the hull’s transverse sections. The section was immediately sealed to prevent any water ingress, and further investigation was carried out to determine the cause of the crack.
