Nautical Term: Static load
Definition of Static load
Static load refers to a consistent and unchanging load that is applied to the structure of a ship. This type of load is also known as a dead load, as it does not change or move with the ship’s motion.
For example, the weight of the fuel, water, and cargo stored on a ship would be considered a static load. If the ship’s design and structural components can support the weight of this static load, then the ship is considered to be safely loaded.
