A command given to maintain the current direction and speed of a vessel in navigation.

Example: Despite the strong headwind, the captain kept the order to ‘steady on course.’ The crew worked diligently to keep the ship’s bow into the wind, as the captain’s resolve never wavered, ensuring they would reach their destination despite the challenging conditions.
