Definition of Anchor lights
Anchor lights, also known as riding lights, refer to the set of lights that a vessel is required to display when anchored in order to ensure that other vessels can easily identify the anchored vessel and avoid collisions.
For instance, a cargo ship named Seaworthy is anchored in the open sea. According to the international regulations for preventing collisions at sea, Seaworthy is required to display the anchor lights consisting of two all-round white lights, one situated above the other. These lights help to indicate the position of Seaworthy to other vessels in the area and prevent potential collisions.
