Definition of Awash
When a vessel’s deck is at the same level as the water or the water is about to, or slightly covers the deck, the vessel is said to be ‘awash’.
For instance, during a storm, the waves might crash against the sides of a ship, causing it to become awash. In the following paragraph, you can see how the term ‘awash’ is used in this context:
