Nautical Term: Bulkhead bounding: bar

Definition of Bulkhead bounding: bar

A bulkhead boundary bar, also referred to as an angle bar, is a structural component used to connect the edges of a bulkhead to the tank top, shell, deck, or to another bulkhead. The use of angle bars is common for this purpose as both flanges are easily caulked. For instance, in the construction of a ship’s cargo hold, angle bars would be used to secure the bulkheads to the tank top, ensuring a watertight seal.
