Nautical Term: Seaworthy

Definition of Seaworthy

Seaworthy refers to a vessel that is capable of sailing safely at sea and is equipped to withstand various sea conditions, such as rough waves, strong winds, or heavy rain.

For instance, a captain planning a voyage might assess the seaworthiness of their ship before departing. They would inspect the vessel’s hull, engines, and navigational equipment to ensure they are functioning correctly and are suitable for the expected sea conditions during the voyage.
