Definition of Cargo port

A cargo port is an opening in the side of a multi-decked vessel, equipped with a watertight cover or door. Cargo is received and discharged through this port. For instance, a large container ship docks at a cargo terminal, and the cargo containers are transported from the ship through the cargo port.
