Definition of Casingb
Casing refers to the additional structure built around a ship’s funnel. This extra case or bulkhead is designed to safeguard the ship’s decks from the intense heat emanating from the funnel. For instance, during a long voyage, the crew may install casing to prevent the deck from getting unbearably hot. See Air Casing.
