Nautical Term: CPR
Definition of CPR
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, often referred to as CPR, is a life-saving emergency procedure that combines chest compressions and artificial ventilation to preserve brain function and maintain blood circulation in a person who has stopped breathing or whose heart has stopped beating. For instance, if a swimmer is found unconscious in the water, bystanders can perform CPR to help maintain the swimmer’s vital signs until advanced medical help arrives.
