Nautical Term: Duct

Definition of Duct

A large cross-section conduit, which can be either vertical or horizontal in orientation, is used to transport various mediums such as piping, cabling, or fluids, through it. This duct system provides a secure and efficient method for conducting these mediums to their intended destinations.

For example, in a large commercial or industrial building, there may be a need to transport various utility services such as water, electricity, or telecommunication cables, to different parts of the building. In such cases, a duct system can be installed to efficiently and safely transport these utility services to their intended destinations within the building.
