Nautical Term: Groupage

Definition of Groupage

Groupage is the process of consolidating multiple compatible consignments into a single full container load. This practice allows shippers to save on transport costs by filling a container to its maximum capacity. For instance, a textile manufacturer based in the US could consolidate smaller consignments of textiles from various European suppliers into a single full container load. By doing so, the US manufacturer can save on transport costs and streamline the logistics process.
