The International Energy Agency (IEA), established in 1974, is an intergovernmental organization that aims to ensure a reliable, efficient, and clean energy system worldwide. For instance, in the context of a coordinated response to a significant disruption in global oil supplies, the IEA member countries may undertake collective actions such as releasing strategic oil reserves to help stabilize international oil markets and ensure the continuity of energy supplies to their economies.
