Definition of Jib
{The Jib is a component of a sailing vessel’s foremast. It’s a triangular sail, secured to the forestay and the lower end of the foremast. When hoisted, the Jib extends the vessel’s reach and enhances her sailing performance.
For example, during a regatta, a skilled sailor would hoist the Jib as soon as the wind shifts to the fore. The Jib’s powerful lift would push the vessel forward, enabling her to outpace her competitors and ultimately secure a top spot on the podium.}
