Nautical Term: Messroom

Definition of Messroom

A messroom is a designated space or compartment where the members of the ship’s crew gather to consume their meals. In contrast, a wardroom messroom refers to a dining area exclusively for the officers on board the ship.

For instance, The USS John C. Stennis had just completed a six-month deployment in the Gulf of Aden. The crew and officers were eager to gather in their respective messrooms for a well-deserved meal.
