Definition of OFAC
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is a division of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. OFAC’s primary mission is to enforce economic and trade sanctions against certain foreign entities and individuals.
For instance, if a U.S. company suspects that a foreign supplier is dealing with a sanctioned entity, the U.S. company must comply with OFAC regulations. Failure to do so could result in significant penalties.
