Definition of OVMSA

The Offshore Vessel Management and Self-Assessment (OVMSA) system is a comprehensive process designed to help the management of offshore vessels assess and improve their operational performance and safety. For instance, during an annual inspection, the chief engineer could use the OVMSA system to evaluate the condition of the vessel’s engines, compare the data with industry benchmarks, and develop an action plan to address any identified issues.
