Definition of SALM
A type of mooring system in which a vessel is secured to the seabed using a single anchor and a sufficiently long chain or rode. This arrangement allows the vessel to move gently with the tides and currents while remaining securely moored to the seabed.
For example, The cruise ship was secured to the Single Anchor Leg Mooring system in the deep water harbor. The ship’s captain was satisfied with the mooring arrangement, as it allowed the ship to ride out the strong winds and waves that were forecasted for the next few days.
