Definition of Sole plate

A sole plate is a flat plate that is fitted on top of a foundation or base. Machines, such as pumps or compressors, have their bases bolted to the sole plate, ensuring a stable and secure connection.

Additionally, there is a small sole plate fitted at the end of a stanchion on a ship to provide a solid attachment point for various safety lines and equipment.
