Nautical Term: AHL

Definition of AHL

AHL stands for Australian Hold Ladders. These are specialized ladders used in Australian shipping and boating industries. These ladders are designed to be held steady from the deck or the dock, allowing seafarers or boaters to safely ascend or descend the ladder.

For instance, a captain of a ship arriving at an Australian port might use the AHL to help his crew safely board the ship. In another situation, a fisherman operating a small boat in Australian waters might use the AHL to help him safely get in and out of the boat during his fishing expeditions.
