Definition of Bulk carrier

A type of merchant vessel specifically engineered for the transportation of large quantities of dry, homogeneous, loose cargoes in bulk. These vessels feature self-trimming holds designed to sustain the heavy, concentrated weight distribution of the cargoes.

For example, The MV Mariana, a bulk carrier, successfully transported over 60,000 metric tons of iron ore from the mines in Western Australia to the steel mills in China.
