Definition of Chain riveting

Chain riveting refers to a method of securing two or more layers of chain or other materials. In this technique, rows of rivets are placed with careful spacing. Specifically, the rivets in one row are opposed to those in adjacent rows.

For example, consider a large shipping vessel. Its anchor chain may consist of several interlinked sections, each requiring secure attachment to the chain above. In this scenario, chain riveting would be employed to securely fasten each section of the chain to the one above it.
