Nautical Term: Deep floor
Definition of Deep floor
Deep floor is a nautical term used to describe the floors located in the forward or after end of a vessel. Due to the converging sides of ships in the bow and stern, the floors become significantly deeper than in the main body. For instance, in a large container ship, the depth of the deep floor in the bow and stern could be over 20 feet, compared to only a few feet in the main body.
