Definition of Diesel generator

A diesel generator is a self-contained electrical power generation system. This system incorporates a diesel prime mover, which drives a generator to produce alternating current (AC) electrical power. For instance, a 9kw marine diesel generator could be used to provide power to a yacht or a remote research station.
