Definition of Fixed costs

Fixed costs refer to expenses that remain constant, regardless of the level of activity. For instance, a shipowner may have to pay a fixed amount for insurance, even if the ship is not in use or carrying any cargo. Similarly, other fixed costs may include expenses for crew salaries, docking fees, and maintenance costs.
