Nautical Term: FSU
Definition of FSU
A Floating Storage Unit, also known as an FSU, is a type of marine storage system designed to float on the water surface. This system is particularly useful in deep waters or in areas where the seabed is not stable enough to support a traditional land-based storage facility.
For example, a shipping company operating in the Atlantic Ocean might use an FSU to store excess fuel or other supplies. The FSU would be anchored to the ocean floor in a location convenient for the shipping company’s vessels. The FSU would then float on the water surface, allowing the shipping company’s vessels to load fuel or other supplies directly from the FSU.
